Steven W. Mosher is an American social scientist, anti-abortion activist, neoconservative, and anti-communist. He is the president of the Population Research Institute, which opposes population control and abortion. Mosher was the first American social scientist to visit mainland China in 1979, where he witnessed forced abortions under the one-child policy. This experience led him to convert from atheism to Roman Catholicism. He is a prolific author and speaker on China and population issues, and has appeared before Congress and on numerous media outlets. He was expelled from Stanford University's PhD program in anthropology due to his research and publications on China.
