Alvin Schwartz
Alvin Schwartz was an American author and journalist known for his collections of folklore, wordplay, and scary stories for young readers. He served in the U.S. Navy and later earned degrees in journalism from Colby College and Northwestern University. After working as a newspaper reporter, he became a freelance writer, eventually focusing on children's literature. His most famous works include the "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" series, which became incredibly popular but also controversial due to their frightening content and illustrations. Schwartz's books explored themes of folklore, superstitions, riddles, and cautionary tales, often with underlying social commentary.
