
Jane Urquhart
Jane Urquhart (born June 21, 1949) is a Canadian novelist and poet known for evocative, history-infused fiction. Her notable novels include The Whirlpool, Away, The Underpainter and The Stone Carvers. She has received major awards and honours including the Governor General's Award, France's Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger, the Trillium Award, the Marian Engel Award and was named an Officer of the Order of Canada. Urquhart lives in Ontario and her work has been widely translated.
