Guy Clarence Vanderhaeghe OC SOM is a Canadian novelist and short story writer, best known for his Western novel trilogy. He has won three Governor General's Awards for his fiction. Vanderhaeghe was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, and studied history at the University of Saskatchewan before completing a Bachelor of Education at the University of Regina. He has taught creative writing at various institutions, including the University of Ottawa and St. Thomas More College at the University of Saskatchewan, where he is currently the St. Thomas More Scholar. His work often explores themes of loss, redemption, and the construction of identity within historical and social contexts. He lives in Saskatoon with his wife.
