Terry Brooks
Terence "Terry" Dean Brooks (born January 8, 1944) is an American writer best known for his epic fantasy series The Shannara Saga and the Landover novels. A former attorney, he published his debut novel The Sword of Shannara in 1977 and has since written numerous bestselling fantasy novels and short stories. Brooks has received awards including the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement and an Inkpot Award. In March 2025 he announced he was moving into semi-retirement and handed ongoing authorship of the Shannara legendarium to another writer.
