J. V. Jones (Julie Victoria Jones, b. 1963) is a British fantasy novelist best known for The Book of Words trilogy and the Sword of Shadows series. Born in Liverpool, she later lived in the United States (including San Diego and Saratoga Springs). Her debut novel The Baker's Boy (1995) established her as a prominent writer of character-driven epic fantasy; later major works include A Cavern of Black Ice and its sequels. Jones has worked in a variety of jobs outside publishing while completing her novels and continues to be associated with the epic/high fantasy tradition.
