Brian Jacques
James Brian Jacques (15 June 1939 – 5 February 2011) was an English author best known for the Redwall series of children's fantasy novels. Born and raised in Liverpool, he worked various jobs including merchant seaman and milkman before becoming a full-time writer. His Redwall books—featuring anthropomorphic animals, epic quests, and lavish descriptions of feasts—sold millions of copies worldwide and were translated into many languages. He also wrote the Castaways of the Flying Dutchman series, several short-story collections, and a few picture books. Jacques hosted a long-running radio show on BBC Radio Merseyside and received an honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of Liverpool in 2005.
