Julia Donaldson

Julia Catherine Donaldson (born 16 September 1948) is a British children’s author, playwright and songwriter best known for her illustrated picture books, many of which are illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Her bestselling works include The Gruffalo, Room on the Broom and The Snail and the Whale. She served as the UK Children’s Laureate from 2011 to 2013 and has written extensively for young children, including board books, picture books and early readers.
