Frederic Lindsay

Frederic Lindsay (known to friends as Eric) was a Scottish novelist and crime writer. Born in Glasgow, he worked as a library assistant, teacher and lecturer before becoming a full-time writer in 1978. He wrote standalone novels and a series featuring Detective Inspector Jim Meldrum, and his work includes the novels Brond and Jill Rips (the latter adapted into a film). He was active in literary organisations including the Society of Authors and PEN and served on the Literature Committee of the Scottish Arts Council.
