Jack Higgins

Henry Patterson (27 July 1929 – 9 April 2022), best known by his pen name Jack Higgins, was a British novelist famous for bestselling thrillers and espionage novels. His 1975 novel The Eagle Has Landed sold tens of millions of copies and was adapted for film; over his career he published dozens of novels (under several names) and sold well into the hundreds of millions of copies worldwide. He studied sociology as an external student of the London School of Economics, worked as a teacher before becoming a full‑time author, and lived for many years in England and Jersey.
