Roger Hargreaves

Charles Roger Hargreaves (9 May 1935 – 11 September 1988) was a British author and illustrator best known for creating the Mr. Men and Little Miss series of children's books. Originally working in advertising, he began publishing his simple, brightly coloured character books in the early 1970s; the characters (Mr. Tickle, Mr. Happy, Little Miss Sunshine, etc.) became an international franchise with millions of books sold worldwide. After his death, his son Adam Hargreaves continued creating new titles in the series.
