Tess Gerritsen (born Terry Tom) is an American novelist and retired physician best known for her Rizzoli & Isles crime-thriller series and medical thrillers. A Stanford graduate who earned her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, she practiced medicine before becoming a full-time writer. Gerritsen's novels have been international bestsellers and several have been adapted for television and other media.
