Robin Cook

Robin Cook (born Robert Brian Cook on May 4, 1940) is an American physician-turned-novelist best known for pioneering the medical thriller genre. Trained as a physician (MD) and with postgraduate training in ophthalmology, Cook began publishing fiction in the 1970s and achieved wide popularity with novels that combine contemporary medical science and public-health issues with suspenseful plots. His breakout novel Coma (1977) established his signature blend of medical detail and thriller pacing; many of his novels have been New York Times bestsellers and several have been adapted for film and television.
