John Michael Crichton (known as Michael Crichton) was an American author, screenwriter, and filmmaker best known for high-concept techno-thrillers blending science, medicine, and suspense. His novels—such as The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, Sphere, Congo, and Timeline—frequently explored scientific and technological themes and were often adapted for film and television. Crichton trained as a physician (Harvard Medical School) before focusing on writing and filmmaking. He died in 2008.
