Steven Robert Alten (born August 21, 1959) is an American author best known for the MEG series about the megalodon. He holds a B.S. from Pennsylvania State University, an M.S. in sports medicine from the University of Delaware, and an Ed.D. from Temple University. Alten founded the Adopt-An-Author program promoting reading in secondary schools. His work spans science-fiction, thriller and action-adventure novels and several have been adapted for film.
