Richard John Philip Jermy Gwyn (May 26, 1934 – August 15, 2020) was a British-born Canadian journalist, author, historian and civil servant. He worked for Time Canada and The Toronto Star as a parliamentary and national affairs correspondent and columnist, and later wrote acclaimed biographies and histories including a biography of Pierre Elliott Trudeau (The Northern Magus) and a two-volume biography of Sir John A. Macdonald. He won multiple Canadian literary prizes and served as chancellor of St. Jerome's University. Gwyn lived in Toronto and ceased regular public writing after developing Alzheimer’s disease.
