James A. Lovell Jr.

James A. "Jim" Lovell Jr. (born March 25, 1928) is an American former naval aviator, test pilot, and NASA astronaut best known as commander of Apollo 13. He flew on Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8 and Apollo 13. Lovell co-authored the account of the Apollo 13 mission with Jeffrey Kluger; the story has been widely published and adapted into film.
