Carol Shields
Carol Ann Shields (née Warner; June 2, 1935 – July 16, 2003) was an American-born Canadian novelist, short story writer and playwright. She is best known for The Stone Diaries (1993), which won the 1995 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the 1993 Governor General's Award. Over her career she published ten novels, several short story collections, poetry, plays and a biography of Jane Austen. Her work frequently explored domestic life, marriage, and the inner lives of women.
