Jackie Kay is a celebrated Scottish poet, playwright, and novelist known for her exploration of identity, race, gender, and family. Born in Edinburgh in 1961 and raised in Glasgow by adoptive parents, her work often draws on her personal experiences. She served as the Scottish Makar (National Poet for Scotland) from 2016 to 2021 and is a Professor of Creative Writing.
