Sharon Bala

Sharon Bala is a Canadian novelist and short story writer based in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Born in Dubai, she is known for her bestselling debut novel, The Boat People, which won the 2019 Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction and the 2020 Newfoundland and Labrador Book Award. She is a member of The Port Authority writing group and has received numerous awards for her short fiction, including the 2017 Journey Prize.
