Richard Bachman
AmericanDystopianCrimeHorror
Richard Bachman is a fictional persona and pen name adopted by the American author Stephen King. King created the pseudonym in 1977 to bypass publishing industry limitations on the number of books an author could release per year. A detailed, albeit entirely fabricated, biography was created for Bachman, describing him as a dairy farmer from New Hampshire who had served in the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. The ruse was maintained until 1985, when a bookstore clerk discovered the connection. Following the reveal, King 'killed off' the persona, claiming Bachman died of 'cancer of the pseudonym.'
