Evelyn Lau is a Canadian author, poet, and memoirist born in Vancouver. She gained early fame for her bestselling debut memoir, 'Runaway: Diary of a Street Kid' (1989), which chronicled her experiences as a homeless teenager. She has since published numerous collections of poetry and prose, exploring themes of identity, survival, intimacy, and urban life. She served as the Poet Laureate for the City of Vancouver from 2011 to 2014 and continues to be an active writer and educator.
