Wayson Choy

Wayson Choy (born Choy Way Sun) was a Canadian novelist and memoirist known for his portrayals of Chinese-Canadian life, especially in Vancouver's Chinatown. His best-known work, The Jade Peony (1995), brought him national recognition; he also wrote the memoirs Paper Shadows (1999) and Not Yet (2009). A longtime teacher of creative writing at Humber College, Choy received multiple literary awards and was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada for his contributions to Canadian letters.
