Muriel Whitaker
Muriel Whitaker is a professor emerita of English at the University of Alberta and a scholar specializing in medieval literature and art. She has authored academic publications, edited anthologies of Canadian stories, and written a children's picture book. She also built a one-room schoolhouse to educate her children in the 1950s. Whitaker pursued a PhD in Medieval English Literature at UBC in 1966 after her marriage began to fall apart. She became a professor at the University of Alberta in 1969 and was considered an international expert in her field, traveling extensively for research and conferences. Her notable scholarly work, "The Legends of King Arthur in Art," was published in 1990 after 20 years of research.
