Judi Barrett
Judi Barrett is an American author and art teacher, best known for her whimsical and imaginative children's picture books. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and attended the Pratt Institute, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in advertising design in 1962. After graduating, she worked as a freelance designer before beginning her teaching career in 1968, instructing art and woodworking to young children. She has also taught painting at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and currently teaches art to kindergarten students in Brooklyn. Barrett's most famous work, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" (1978), illustrated by her then-husband Ron Barrett, became a bestseller and inspired animated films. She has authored over 20 books, often collaborating with Ron Barrett.
