Ahdaf Soueif is an Egyptian novelist, political and cultural commentator, and activist. Born in Cairo, she was educated in Egypt and England, earning a PhD in linguistics from the University of Lancaster. Her work often explores Egyptian history, politics, and the Palestinian cause, blending fiction and non-fiction. She is known for her novels such as "In the Eye of the Sun" and "The Map of Love," the latter being shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Soueif also writes for The Guardian and has published essays and memoirs, including an account of the Egyptian revolution.
