David Wiesner is an American illustrator and writer of children's picture books, renowned for his innovative, often wordless, storytelling. He has won the Caldecott Medal three times for "Tuesday" (1992), "The Three Pigs" (2002), and "Flotsam" (2007), making him one of only two artists to receive this prestigious award three times. His work is characterized by detailed, imaginative illustrations and a whimsical, surreal style that appeals to both children and adults. Wiesner graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in illustration and has been recognized with numerous other awards and honors throughout his career.
