Won-Pyung Sohn
Won-pyung Sohn is a South Korean novelist, film director, and screenwriter, born in Seoul in 1979. She studied social studies and philosophy at Sogang University and film directing at the Korean Academy of Film Arts. Her literary debut was the 2016 novel Almond, which won the Changbi Prize for Young Adult Fiction and achieved widespread commercial success, including translations into over 30 languages. The work later received the 2020 Japanese Booksellers' Award for translated fiction. Sohn's novels explore the meaning of human existence and growth, characterized by unique characters and rapid plot development. Her writing often delves into complex psychological states and societal challenges, with narratives that are clear, concise, and emotionally resonant.
