Henry Porter is an English author and journalist known for his award-winning thrillers and his work on civil liberties and the threat to democracy. He was a regular columnist for The Observer until 2014 and served as the British editor of Vanity Fair for 25 years until 2018. Porter has written ten novels, including a children's book, and is often described as the heir to John le Carré. His work frequently explores themes of surveillance, human rights, and the moral ambiguities of intelligence work, drawing on his journalistic background. He is also an activist, having chaired the Joint Media Unit of the People's Vote campaign and The Convention. His novel "Firefly" won the 2019 Wilbur Smith Prize for Adventure writing.
