Richard Adams

Richard George Adams was an English novelist best known for his debut novel Watership Down, which achieved international acclaim. He also wrote Maia, Shardik, and The Plague Dogs. Adams studied Modern History at Worcester College, Oxford, and served in the British Army during World War II. After completing his studies, he joined the British Civil Service. In 1974, he became a full-time author. His writing began as stories he told his daughters on car trips. Adams was a strong advocate for animal welfare. He died on December 24, 2016, at the age of 96.
