Jerry West

Jerry West was the pen name used by Andrew E. Svenson, a prolific author of children's books. Svenson wrote the 'Happy Hollisters' series under this pseudonym. The series, which began in 1953, was published by the Stratemeyer Syndicate and featured the adventures of the Hollister family. Svenson's own family life served as inspiration for the characters and their escapades. He also wrote other children's series under different pseudonyms. Andrew Svenson was born in Belleville, NJ, in 1910, and studied Creative Writing at the University of Pittsburgh. He worked as a reporter and editor before joining the Stratemeyer Syndicate in 1948. He became a partner in the syndicate in 1961 and passed away in 1975.
