Dr. Sue Johnson EdD
Dr. Sue Johnson was a pioneering innovator in the field of couple therapy and adult attachment, and the primary developer of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Her work established EFT as a widely taught and researched attachment-based approach to couple and family therapy. She was a Distinguished Research Professor at Alliant University in San Diego, California, and Professor Emeritus in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada. Johnson authored several books for therapists and general audiences, including the bestseller "Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love." She founded the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), which trains mental health professionals worldwide in EFT. Dr. Johnson received numerous awards for her contributions to the field, including the Order of Canada.
