John D. Barrow

John David Barrow was an English cosmologist, theoretical physicist, and mathematician. He was also a writer of popular science and an amateur playwright. He served as Gresham Professor of Geometry at Gresham College from 2008 to 2011. Barrow was a professor of mathematical sciences and director of the Millennium Mathematics Project at Cambridge University and a Fellow of the Royal Society. He was awarded the 2006 Templeton Prize for "Progress Toward Research or Discoveries about Spiritual Realities". His books explored a huge range of subjects on the science and religion interface at a level that spoke to lay readers and specialists alike. He was known for his efforts to make science understandable to laypeople.
