Beverley McLachlin
Beverley McLachlin (born 1943) is a Canadian jurist and author. She served as the 17th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 2000 to 2017 — the first woman and the longest-serving chief justice in Canadian history. Since retiring from the bench she has published fiction (Full Disclosure; Denial) and a memoir (Truth Be Told). McLachlin has held academic posts, served as a non-permanent judge of Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal, and received numerous honours including appointment as a Companion of the Order of Canada.
