
Jim Murphy
James John Patrick Murphy was an American author who wrote over 35 nonfiction and fiction books for children, young adults, and general audiences, with a particular focus on American history. He received the Margaret A. Edwards Award from the American Library Association in 2010 for his contributions to young-adult literature. His well-researched books often brought history to life through the narratives of young people, making them fast-paced and engaging for young adults. Murphy also won the Robert F. Sibert Medal for children's information books and was a runner-up for Newbery Medals twice.
