Svetlana Chmakova (born October 7, 1979) is a Russian-Canadian comic book artist, writer, and illustrator best known for her manga-influenced graphic novels such as Dramacon, Nightschool, and the Berrybrook Middle School series (Awkward, Brave, Crush). Born in Russia, she emigrated to Canada as a teen and graduated from Sheridan College's Classical Animation program. Her work has been translated into multiple languages and has received awards and nominations including the Joe Shuster Award and the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Kids' Comics, as well as Eisner Award nominations.
