Jason Elliot is a British travel writer and novelist best known for his book An Unexpected Light: Travels in Afghanistan (1999), which won the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award and became a New York Times bestseller. He has written extensively about Afghanistan and Iran; his books combine travelogue, history and personal reflection. He lives in London.
