John Dickson Carr

John Dickson Carr (1906–1977) was an American author best known for his classic detective fiction and ingenious locked-room mysteries. Writing also under the pseudonym Carter Dickson, Carr was a leading figure of the Golden Age of detective fiction and created memorable series characters such as Dr. Gideon Fell and Sir Henry Merrivale. His novels are celebrated for atmosphere, fair-play puzzle construction, and Gothic touches.
