Namina Forna (born January 9, 1987) is a Sierra Leonean American author and screenwriter best known for The Deathless series, which begins with The Gilded Ones (2021). Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, she moved to the United States as a child and studied at Spelman College and the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Her work is West Africa–inspired epic young adult fantasy featuring fierce female protagonists; her novels have appeared on New York Times and indie bestseller lists.
