Dorothy L. Sayers was an English crime novelist, playwright, translator, and critic, best known for her mystery novels featuring Lord Peter Wimsey. She was also a scholar of classical and modern languages and a Christian humanist. Sayers considered her translation of Dante's Divine Comedy to be her best work. She was a founder member of the Detection Club and is recognized as one of the "Queens of Crime" of the Golden Age of Detective Fiction.
