Jack L. Chalker
Jack Laurence Chalker (1944–2005) was a prolific American science fiction and fantasy author. Before becoming a full-time writer in 1978, he worked as a history and geography teacher in Baltimore, Maryland, for 12 years. He was a prominent figure in the science fiction community, founding the Baltimore Science Fiction Society and serving as a three-term treasurer for the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. He is best known for his extensive series, including the 'Well of Souls' and 'Four Lords of the Diamond'.
