Paul Scott

Paul Mark Scott (1920–1978) was a British novelist, playwright, and poet, best known for his tetralogy 'The Raj Quartet', which examines the final years of the British Raj in India. He served in the British Indian Army during World War II, an experience that heavily influenced his literary work. His novel 'Staying On' won the Booker Prize in 1977.
