Sir James Percy FitzPatrick (1862–1931) was a prominent South African author, politician, and businessman. He is best known for his classic children's book, 'Jock of the Bushveld' (1907), which chronicles his experiences as a transport rider in the Transvaal. Beyond his literary contributions, he played a significant role in South African politics, was a key figure in the mining industry, and is credited with initiating the two-minute silence observed on Armistice Day.
