The character, a wealthy, rugby-obsessed socialite from South County Dublin, first appeared in a newspaper column in 1998 and has since been the protagonist of a long-running series of novels, plays, and podcasts. The books are written from his first-person perspective, satirizing the lifestyle and culture of Ireland's privileged classes.
