Hendrik Groen

Hendrik Groen is the pseudonym of Dutch writer Peter de Smet (born 1954). He gained international fame for his humorous and poignant diary-style novels, starting with 'The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen, 83¼ Years Old', which chronicles the life of an elderly man in an Amsterdam retirement home. His identity was revealed in 2016, though he has largely maintained a private life.
