Lorenzo Carcaterra (born October 16, 1954) is a New York–born author and journalist of Italian descent. He is best known for Sleepers, which was adapted into a 1996 film, and for a string of crime and thriller novels. A former New York Daily News copy boy who became an entertainment reporter, Carcaterra has written novels, non-fiction and screenplays, and has worked in television (including credits on Law & Order). He lives in New York City.
