Ed McBain
Ed McBain is the pen name of Evan Hunter (born Salvatore Albert Lombino), an American novelist and screenwriter best known for the 87th Precinct series which helped popularize the police procedural. He wrote more than 50 crime novels as Ed McBain and produced notable works under other names (including Evan Hunter). His novel The Blackboard Jungle (as Evan Hunter) was adapted into a major film; McBain's 87th Precinct books influenced later television police dramas. He received lifetime-achievement recognition from Mystery Writers of America and the British Crime Writers' Association.
