
Gene Luen Yang
Gene Luen Yang is an American cartoonist and author known for his graphic novels that explore themes of identity, culture, and belonging. He often uses a contemporary Chinese American lens to examine present-day and historical events. Yang also advocates for the importance of reading, especially diverse voices and stories, in his role as the Library of Congress' National Ambassador for Young People's Literature. He previously taught computer science and served as director of information services at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California, and has taught in Hamline University's MFA program.
