James Richard "Rick" Cook (1944 – January 13, 2022) was an American novelist and short-story writer best known for his Wizardry series, beginning with Wizard's Bane (1989). His work blended computer/technology themes with fantasy and humor. He was active as an author primarily from the late 1980s through the 1990s and published both novels and shorter fiction in genre magazines.
