Sue Monk Kidd (born August 12, 1948) is an American novelist and memoirist from Sylvester, Georgia. She began her career writing spiritual memoirs and later achieved wide acclaim for her novels, most notably The Secret Life of Bees (2002), The Mermaid Chair (2005), The Invention of Wings (2014), and The Book of Longings (2020). Her work often explores themes of race, feminism, religion, and the inner lives of women. She has received multiple honors and her novels have appeared on bestseller lists and been adapted for film and stage.
